5 Bra Issues and The Fix

Updated: Feb 15, 2020

Trying to find the right bra, can be a frustrating experience.

Here are 5 bra issues I hear about all the time and how you can address them.

  1. Bra Rides Up in the Back – if your bra rides up in the back, it is probably too large around the midriff. Go down a size i.e. from a 38 to a 36 or maybe even a 34 but to make up for this, you may need to go up a size or two in the cup C to D or E. When you try a new bra on, it should be snug but not so tight that it stops you from breathing. And if you’re the type that likes a loose fitting bra, well, your bra will likely ride.

  2. Straps falling down – If your bra straps are always falling off your shoulders, you probably have narrow shoulders and a petite frame but perhaps the girls are fuller. To fix this, make sure you get a bra with 100% cotton straps. Remember, elastic is the first thing to go in a bra, because it stretches over time, and especially after the second and third wash.

  3. Overflow – if your breasts are popping out of the top of your bra, you are probably in the wrong size cup. Go up a cup or two and this should be rectified.

  4. Loss of Breast Tissue – If you have lost a substantial amount of weight or when you get older, gravity sets in and your breast tissue may drop or disappear. To fix this, add a little padding in the top of your bra and it will stay put if you have a pocket.

  5. Breast Tissue under the Arms – If you wear a bra that is too small for you, and you squish the girls inside, they flatten out but where do you think the breast tissue goes; under your arms of course. To fix this, make sure you get a bra with directional guides that keep the breast tissue in front, where it is supposed to be.
